Where to shop this Hispanic Heritage Month
September 17, 2026 · – Shelby Hintze
Welcome back to Keep it Local, our weekly Thursday afternoon newsletter where we share a curated list of Salt Lake small businesses and how you can support them!
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, celebrating the cultures, histories, and contributions of Latina/e/o/x and Hispanic communities. The timing is significant: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chile, and Belize all celebrate their independence days during this stretch.
When I think about Hispanic- or Latino-owned businesses, my mind usually goes straight to some of my favorite restaurants in the city. And for good reason! Utah was once part of Mexico, and today we have a vibrant food scene representing cultures and cuisines from across the Latin world.
But this month, I want to celebrate the businesses bringing us ingredients, art, entertainment, and other pieces of their cultures.
¡Vamos!
