City Cast Salt Lake
🐢 Adopt a desert tortoise
April 28, 2026
Hey, Salt Lake! Thank you to the 130 new members who joined during our spring membership campaign. We’re blown away by your support!
And a little humble brag: We had the most new members sign up across the entire City Cast network. Some of the other cities have millions of residents, so that says a lot about this community.
If you didn’t have a chance to sign up to be a City Cast Salt Lake Neighbor, you still can! We have another member event coming up soon, and honestly, it’s one of the best parts about being a Neighbor — so sign up below.
What's CITY Talking About

Car vs. Downtown Harmons Parking Garage
A driver accidentally hit the accelerator inside the Harmons parking garage in downtown Salt Lake, crashing into a wall and leaving a large hole. Luckily, no injuries were reported, but the front of the car hanging out over the storefront made for a pretty startling sight. [FOX 13]
Daynes Music Closing
After more than 150 years, family-owned Daynes Music is closing after Steinway & Sons selected a new dealer in Utah. The Steinway Piano Gallery is set to open in Holladay this May as the state’s only authorized Steinway showroom. [Salt Lake Tribune 🔒]
Adopt a Desert Tortoise
Utah wildlife officials are seeking adopters for 15 Mojave desert tortoises that can’t return to the wild, a rare chance to care for a threatened species. They also make for a great family pet that can be passed down generations because they can live more than 50 years! [Utah News Dispatch]
