City Cast Salt Lake
📚 The best indie bookstores in SLC
April 24, 2026
Hey, Salt Lake! We’re down to the wire; today’s the final day of our spring membership drive. So here’s one last plea: Local journalism like this isn’t guaranteed. It only exists if you support it. We need about 100 more members by the end of the day to hit our goal.
We’ve been genuinely blown away by how many of you showed up over the past couple weeks. It means so much! We do this work because we care about this city and want to help you feel more connected to it. If you’ve been thinking about joining, don’t wait, today’s the day.
What's CITY Talking About
SLC Council Member Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Multiple women have accused Salt Lake City Council member and Democratic congressional candidate Eva Lopez Chavez of unwanted "sexual" advances. The news comes right before delegates meet to choose a primary candidate at Saturday's party convention. On today's City Cast Salt Lake podcast, we talk about the story and its implications with the reporter who broke it. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
Marathon Traffic Alert
Heads up! The Salt Lake City Marathon is tomorrow, Saturday, April 25. Check the map to plan accordingly for traffic and road closures (some streets will be closed for multiple hours) throughout the city. [SLC Marathon]
Gen Z Wants Big Houses
Salt Lake City ranks highest in the country for the most Gen Zers owning larger homes, according to a survey by Redfin. While affordability is still a challenge nationwide, younger buyers here are often purchasing as couples with dual income or with family support. [KUTV]
A Giant Hot Dog on Wheels
The 27-foot Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is rolling through Salt Lake: at Smith’s in West Jordan today (April 24) and at Chapman Library tomorrow (April 25). Swing by to peek inside and pick up a free Wiener Whistle. [FOX 13]
