What's CITY Talking About
Update on Prop 4 Signature Gathering
The Utah Legislature wants voters to sign a petition forcing a re-vote on Proposition 4, the law to create non-partisan guidelines for drawing voting districts. Though, voters already did vote to pass it in 2018. The Republican Party needs an additional 94,028 signatures by Feb. 15. [KUTV]

SLC Stewardship Punch Cards
Salt Lake City’s Department of Public Lands just introduced stewardship punch cards. It's a fun way to earn prizes and swag while volunteering or attending the city’s various stewardship events. [Instagram, SLC Public Lands]
New Liquor Laws in 2026
The Utah Legislature is in session, which means it’s time for a new omnibus aka giant liquor bill. Moving the blood alcohol content level for a DUI from .05 to .02 is on the table. Also, modifications to the 100% ID-check law and addressing “proximity,” which could lead to more neighborhood bars. [FOX 13]
An ICE Detention Center in SLC?
Both the Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County mayors responded to allegations that Immigration and Customs Enforcement plans to build a detention center on the west side of Salt Lake City. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
