🎬 Nicolas Cage your way through SLC
January 6, 2026 · Thank you to City Cast Salt Lake podcast host Ali Vallarta for writing today’s “What Salt Lake’s Talking About.”
Hey, Salt Lake! Join Westside residents and their state legislators, tonight from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Utah State Fairpark, for a conversation ahead of the 2026 Utah Legislative Session. It’s a great way to engage directly with elected officials on Westside priorities.

What's CITY Talking About
2026 Artist-in-Residence Program
The Blocks is taking applications for the CoCreate Artist-in-Residence program through Jan. 31! They are looking to partner with four artists in 2026 to bring unique, place-making projects to life in downtown SLC. [The Blocks]
Property Tax Opposition Moves Forward
A referendum opposing Salt Lake County’s 14.65% increase to property taxes has met the requirements to begin gathering signatures. The organizers need to collect about 45,000 signatures in 45 days to force a public vote on the decision this November. [KSL]
Central Wasatch Symposium
The Central Wasatch Symposium kicks-off this Thursday Jan. 8 and last-minute tickets are now available for $25 (half-off). The symposium addresses the future of the Wasatch mountains and their competing interests. [Central Wasatch Commission]
