City Cast Salt Lake
⁉️ Banished to Antelope Island?
September 24, 2025
Hey, Salt Lake! Today, we’re kicking off our fall membership campaign. It’s the time of year when we remind you that we really need your support to help keep this thing going. How, you might ask? By becoming a City Cast Salt Lake Neighbor!
We believe that better neighbors make our city better. City Cast Salt Lake makes it easy and (I’d like to think) fun to be more engaged — from highlighting local businesses to informing you on important issues.
For $10 a month (or $100 a year), you’ll support a local team that loves Salt Lake as much as you do, while unlocking perks like members-only events and the chance to shout out your favorite local businesses right here in this newsletter.
Bonus: we’ll send you our exclusive Neighbors Make Salt Lake tote, because it’s true — they do!

What's CITY Talking About?
Millcreek Mayor To Resign
Jeff Silvestrini, Millcreek’s first and only mayor, announced he will step down Nov. 10 after being diagnosed with leukemia and a pancreatic tumor. Millcreek will accept mayoral applications Sept. 30 to Oct. 14, with the City Council set to choose a replacement at a special meeting on Nov. 3. [KSL]

Congressional Redistricting Map Proposals
Utah lawmakers have introduced five new congressional redistricting maps ahead of a court-imposed deadline. While Salt Lake County remains split across four districts, the new maps keep Salt Lake City intact. [KUTV]
Trail Closures Through December
Heads up, Memory Grove and sections of the Foothills trails will be temporarily closed until December 2025 as part of the final phase of Rocky Mountain Power’s Wildfire Mitigation Project. [SLC Public Lands]
Zion National Park Gets a Restroom Overhaul
So long porta-potties, Zion National Park is upgrading its failing septic system with a new sewer line. Construction started in August and is expected to be complete by spring 2027, funded in part by $18 million from the Utah Legislature to replace portable toilets and reduce maintenance costs. 🧐 Still on the fence about becoming a member? Here’s what a City Cast Salt Lake Neighbor had to say:
“This feels like chatting with a best friend about the things actually going on that interest me and I am so thankful. Thank you for keeping it real!”
