$730M to Rebuild SLC High Schools
Salt Lake City School District is preparing to rebuild two of Utah’s oldest high schools, West and Highland. The projects will be funded in part by a $730 million bond approved by voters in 2024. [KUTV]
Next Steps for Fleet Block
Salt Lake City has selected two affordable housing developers, Mercy Housing and Brinshore Development, to build mixed-use housing and retail on part of the former Fleek Block site. The area was once home to murals memorializing people killed by police. [Salt Lake Tribune 🔒]
Stargazing Under a Black Moon
A rare “black moon” will occur on Saturday, Aug. 23. Like all new moons it won’t be visible but it’ll give stargazers especially dark skies, ideal for viewing the Milky Way and the final streaks of the Perseid meteor shower. [Deseret News]
