Salt Lake Chatter

A more family-friendly SLC means family-friendly fare. (Mariah McBride/City Cast)

Hey Salt Lake readers are sharing their favorite BBQ places plus big ideas for a more family-friendly Salt Lake.

On a Family-Friendly SLC

“Affordable public transit for families. Instead of full fare for each adult and reduced fare for each child, what about a family pass that’s cheaper overall? Families who can’t afford a car probably can’t afford bus passes for every single family member every month. SLC has cool free events and venues, but it’s not free or cheap to get the whole family there.” — Dee W.

We say: Dee, do you know about this program offering free transit passes for kids in the SLC School District and one guardian? Maybe you could lobby your city for something similar?

“We need more events that allow beer to be walked around with and still have kids. Snowbird Oktoberfest is a great example of this. This is so normal around the rest of the country.” — Ryker M.

We say: Ryker, check out today’s City Cast Salt Lake podcast episode for playgrounds where guardians can enjoy a beer!

On Your Favorite BBQ

“Smokin Bones in Bountiful has great Texas-style BBQ!” — Vincie G.

“Try Kenny J’s BBQ. It’s located in The District in South Jordan and it’s amazing!” — Wendy O.

“Sauce Boss Southern Kitchen in Draper. It’s worth the drive, Black-owned, and delicious!” Ashley T.
