🤩 Julia Reagan in Minnesota

April 23, 2025 · Thanks to City Cast Salt Lake podcast host Ali Vallarta for writing today’s “What Salt Lake’s Talking About.”

Good morning! We have so many people and places around the city that make Salt Lake special — like your favorite barista who knows your order by heart, or that organization helping make the city better. Do you have a Salt Lake spot you admire and can’t wait to share with everyone?

Now you can!

As part of our expanded membership program, City Cast Salt Lake Neighbors have the opportunity to shine a light on local businesses and organizations through Neighbor shoutout submissions that will be featured in Hey Salt Lake and our City Cast Salt Lake podcast.

What's CITY Talking About?

Utah Town Gets Running Water

Residents of Westwater, a town on the Utah portion of the Navajo Nation, finally have running water. The project took 25 years and it’s estimated that 30-40% of Navajo Nation homes still lack running water. [Colorado Sun]

Julia Reagan Still Reigns

New photos of the late matriarch Julia Reagan are popping up in Salt Lake (she looks great in blue), and a recent sighting in Mankato, Minnesota reminds us Julia’s presence on 360 national, not just local, billboards. [Hey Salt Lake]

Welcome to our rolling list of all the best, new restaurants opening around Salt Lake!

April 2025

Baby’s Bagels

While not a new restaurant, Baby’s Bagels is rolling out a fresh new concept with a weekly pizza pop-up every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. until sellout. Whole pies only, for now. Bonus: They got a liquor license, so you can enjoy a glass of vino with your pie.

The Goat Head

This is not your mother’s brunch spot, unless, of course, your mother is punk rock. With specials like The Cultist and Children of the Corn, this edgy eatery occupies the former home of Koko Kitchen.

Repeal

The old Bourbon House is now home to Repeal, a live jazz and cocktail bar by the owners of Prohibition. Reservations are now open for the soft opening, with the grand opening set for Tuesday, April 29.

Pigeon Alley Coffee

Operating out of the pick-up window at Pretty Bird in Sugar House, these guys are real coffee connoisseurs. They use a cold drip tower with remineralized water to make fresh cold brew everyday. And their secret menu aerocano is creamy and velvety smooth.
