Rocky Anderson Drops Tax Referendum

Former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson planned to lead a referendum forcing a city-wide vote on the sales tax increase to fund a new sports, entertainment, culture and convention district in downtown SLC, but reversed course after meeting with Smith Entertainment Group. Anderson explained that pursuing a referendum would distract from addressing vital city issues and instead sought a cooperative alliance with SEG. [KSL]
