Utah Climbing Trail Makes History
Alpenbock Loop, a 1.7-mile trail in Little Cottonwood Canyon, was added to the National Register of Historic Places earlier this month. It’s the first climbing route in the U.S. to receive this recognition. Activists hope it will thwart plans for a proposed gondola in the canyon. [Salt Lake Tribune]

$5M for Road Safety
The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded over $5 million to Utah for road safety improvements. Nearly $3 million of that will go toward upgrades on Redwood Road, including crosswalk beacons and sidewalks. Additional funding will be spread statewide, with $1 million to the Navajo Nation Division of Transportation. [ABC 4]

Trump in SLC
Former President Donald Trump will be in Salt Lake City for a campaign fundraiser this Saturday, Sept. 14. Attendees must donate at least $3,300, with higher VIP levels ranging from $10,000 to $500,000 per person. [Deseret News]
