Salt Lake County Eyes $507M Bond

At their Aug. 13 meeting, the Salt Lake County Council is scheduled to discuss a $507 million bond to fund parts of the county’s new homelessness and criminal justice plan. The money would build a Justice and Accountability Center and make the two jails one facility, with expanded mental health resources. If council members support the bond, it'll be on the November 2024 ballot for voters to approve or deny. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Future of Arts Festival Uncertain

The Utah Arts Festival’s future is uncertain after this year’s low attendance caused a $200,000 revenue loss. Organizers are seeking donations to keep the festival alive and are contemplating changes to ensure its long-term survival. [Axios SLC]
