The drying Great Salt Lake is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, according to a recent study. The lake, reduced by nearly half due to water diversions and a growing regional population, emitted 4.1 million tons of greenhouse gasses in 2020 alone. [NPR]

On the 2034 Salt Lake Winter Olympics committee, retired ski champion Lindsey Vonn is planning a more family-friendly Olympic village on the University of Utah campus. The university will provide up to 2,000 beds for immediate family of athletes, funded by sponsors in order to preserve the event’s $4 billion budget. [AP]
