What's CITY Talking About?

What’s Next for the GSL
The shrinking Great Salt Lake and its threatening toxic dust remain the biggest stories in our city (and, our greatest existential threat to life here). Toxic Dust Study
In 2023, the Utah Legislature gave the Utah Division of Air Quality more than $275,000 to install particulate matter samplers to test the harmful effects of toxic dust. But so far, none have been installed. Monitors are projected to be installed by spring of 2025. [Salt Lake Tribune]
Bears in Utah
A number of campgrounds in Utah closed due to reports of bear activity, including Soapstone Campground near Kamas. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has yet to find the bear(s). [KUTV]
