🔥 Wildfire threatens SLC foothills
July 22, 2024 · Thanks to Adrian González for writing today’s Pioneer Day article.
Good morning! Big news over the weekend: President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. We’ll discuss the reaction from Utah officials during Tuesday’s City Cast Salt Lake podcast episode, so stay tuned.
What's CITY Talking About?
SLC Wildfire Leads to Evacuations
A fire sparked in the Salt Lake City foothills Saturday, resulting in resident evacuations. As of Sunday afternoon, officials believed the more-than-200-acre Sandhurst Fire near Ensign Peak would “not grow in size.” According to Utah Fire Info, the cause of the fire is still being investigated. The Other Side Academy Is Expanding
The Other Side Academy seeks to build a 32-unit multifamily building in Central City. This is part of a larger initiative to support people experiencing chronic homelessness. TOSA also plans to retrofit a former LDS meetinghouse for educational and training services. [Building Salt Lake]

Basketball Trades & Swaps
