😋 Good eats at the SLC farmers market
July 17, 2024
Hey, Salt Lake! I’ve been eating good at the farmers market. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite finds.

What's CITY Talking About?
Ongoing Abravanel Hall Drama
The Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency offered the former Utah Theater site as a potential new location for Abravanel Hall, amidst discussions with Smith Entertainment Group about redeveloping the area east of the Delta Center. But public outcry influenced a shift toward renovation rather than relocation. A final decision is pending, but what does this say about the pre-planned high rise at the Utah Theater site? Cows Helping the GSL
Cows are helping clear phragmites that threaten the ecosystem at the Great Salt Lake. Since introducing the cows to graze, the invasive plants have been significantly reduced, allowing water to flow to the lake and native grasses to return. [KSL]

Dirty Soda at the SLC Airport
Swig is making its way to a terminal near you. The dirty soda company is set to open at the SLC airport this fall, alongside 11 new restaurants and retail shops (several that are local) slated over the next two years. This expansion is part of Phase 4 of the Salt Lake City airport’s redevelopment plan. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Sports Lake City
Lately, Salt Lake City has been all sports, no games. We’re gearing up to potentially host the 2034 Winter Olympics, the downtown sports district is progressing, and now there’s a Major League Baseball situation in Fairpark. But who’s calling the shots in this MLB district? [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Olympic Pajama Party, a Westside Snub, and Galaxy Happy Hour
Salt Lake City is expected to officially — finally! — be granted the 2034 Winter Olympics. Host Ali Vallarta and executive producer Emily Means parse through economic data to figure out the gains and consider attending SLC’s 3 a.m. pajama party to celebrate. Plus, a Westside snub in Fairpark’s stadium development, a call-out for coffee vendors, and galaxy happy hour.

Have a great day.
