⚠️ Addressing air quality on SLC's west side
June 20, 2024
Hey, Salt Lake! In today’s newsletter you’ll find ways to help your neighbor and how to farmers market like a pro.

What's CITY Talking About?
Making Trails Accessible
The new Outdoor Americans with Disabilities Act, introduced by Sen. Mike Lee, mandates that federal land managers consider the impact of their plans on people with disabilities. This could require the Bureau of Land Management to reopen closed motor vehicle routes or create new ones to make public lands more accessible to those who rely on motorized transportation. [FOX 13]
Homelessness on the Rise
A report by the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute found that chronic homelessness in Utah surged by 96% from 2019 to 2023, with rising housing costs putting an estimated 40,000 extremely low-income renter households at risk of housing instability and homelessness. [Utah News Dispatch]

A 99-Year Lease
USA Climbing is planning a new headquarters in Salt Lake City’s Rio Grande District, pending the approval of a 99-year lease from the city’s Redevelopment Agency. The project would include a 45,000-square-foot climbing facility, rehabilitation of a historic building for offices and retail, and an outdoor plaza for events. [KSL]
