What's CITY Talking About?

Sugar House Swig

Dirty soda lovers, rejoice! Salt Lake City is getting a new Swig location in Sugar House. It will occupy the space of the former Jitterbug Coffee Hop drive thru (RIP). Fun fact: The next closest Swig location to SLC is in Millcreek. Can I just say, Salt Lake suburbs would never. [@buildingsaltlake/X]

Ticket To Ride

The Utah Transit Authority is offering free rides if you have a ticket to select events this summer. This applies to UTA buses, TRAX, FrontRunner, S-Line, and UTA On Demand services. Participating events include the Utah Asian Festival, Utah Arts Festival, University of Utah sporting events, and the Salt Lake City and Ogden Twilight concert series. [KSL]

Northern Lights

The northern lights, which were visible over Utah last month, may reappear this week. According to scientists, the sunspot responsible for this display is still active and will face Earth during the new moon on June 6. Possible sightings can occur days before or after this date, so keep your eyes to the sky. [FOX 13]

SLCPD Budget

One of protesters’ demands was to shrink the police budget. But since then, it’s only gotten bigger. Today we take a look under the hood with Salt Lake’s former police chief. If the police budget is a whopping 25% of our entire general fund, how should the department be prioritizing its resources? [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
