An Operatic City Council Meeting
Tuesday’s Salt Lake City Council meeting turned into an opera when one commenter broke out into song. Salt Laker Sabrina Nelson was emphasizing the importance of Abravanel Hall as plans proposed by the Smith Entertainment Group are finalized for the sports and entertainment district downtown. Pool Party
Outdoor pool season is upon us, and five Salt Lake County public pools are opening this weekend. Head to Crestwood, Magna, Redwood, West Jordan, or the SLC Sports Complex on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday from noon-4 p.m. Other locations will open in June. [@slcoparksandrec/Instagram]

Major Gas Leaks Shut Down SLC Streets
There were two separate gas leaks that closed sections of State Street and 2100 S. yesterday. The State Street gas leak had an unknown cause while the Sugar House gas leak was caused by construction. Officials evacuated residents, alerted the public to avoid the area, and later closed Sugar House park. [ABC 4]
