What's CITY Talking About?
Dinah the Dino
A car crashed into Vernal’s legendary Dinah the Dino statue, causing her to lose her tail (no humans were injured in the accident). But have no fear, the 40-foot pink dinosaur will soon be repaired. Last year, Dinah was officially inaugurated into the National Register of Historic Places. [FOX 13]
Indoor Pickleball
Salt Lake City’s first indoor pickleball facility is coming later this year. The Picklr, a pickleball franchise that started in Utah, will open three new locations in the state within the next six months. In 2022, Utah produced more professional pickleball players than any other state. [KSL]

Owl Saved
Firefighters rescued an owl in Davis County after it got tangled up in a soccer net. The owl was so grateful for the assistance, it even posed for multiple photo opps. Afterwards, it was set free, and officials alerted the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. [KUTV]
Veteran Healthcare Gaps
Memorial Day weekend will bring a storm of good-faith tweets from local leaders about how we should be honoring our local veterans. But how about making it easier for them to get health care? One local family is asking for a reality check. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Transforming lives and communities through education
SLCC graduates are hard workers and smart decision-makers. 81% graduate with no or little debt. They opted for a school where they are in a class of 20 not 100—It’s nice when a teacher knows your name. Did we mention trailblazers? Almost half are first-generation students. Look for that on a résumé.

Salt Lake Tribune reporter Sofia Jeremias joins host City Cast Salt Lake podcast host Ali Vallarta to share the story of Patricia “Pat” Gallegos Delgado and brainstorm what policies could do more for our city’s veterans than a Memorial Day tweet.
