Petition for Japantown

Advocates for Salt Lake City’s historic Japantown are closely monitoring the downtown revitalization plan proposed by the Smith Entertainment Group, particularly how it will affect their community. The plan could transform three downtown blocks, including one bordering Japantown (which was condensed to one street back in the 1960s when the Salt Palace was built). Some Japanese American Salt Lakers have started a petition to make sure they’re included in the revitalization process, so they can help preserve the future of Japantown. [KSL]
