Former SLC Mayor Ted Wilson Dies at 84

If you’re wondering why flags are at half-staff, it’s to recognize the passing of former Salt Lake City Mayor Ted Wilson on Thursday. The mountaineer served three consecutive terms as mayor of our city from 1976-1985. His daughter, Jenny Wilson, is the current Salt Lake County mayor. [KSL]

Better Conditions at the Utah State Correctional Facility

The new Utah State Correctional Facility’s opening in 2022 was plagued with horrific issues, including a mosquito infestation. Almost two years later, advocates finally see progress. To mitigate mosquitoes, the facility is phasing out dark clothing (which attracts mosquitoes), preventing larvae from hatching, and increasing the bug repellant supply. The single biggest change, though, has been new management whose key focus is to “listen more and speak less.” [FOX 13]
