🤯 A City Library Stanley cup??
April 11, 2024
Good morning! Random question (that might get spicy): What’s the most Salt Lake thing you’ve seen recently?

What's CITY Talking About?

City Library Stanley Cups
If you never thought you were a Stanley cup stan before, you might change your mind after seeing these City Library Stanleys. The City Library is hosting a giveaway for National Library Week. The rules are simple: Visit your favorite library to enter, and each location has a different colored tumbler (gotta catch ‘em all!). The entry period runs through April 29, and winners will be selected through a random drawing. [@slcpl/Instagram]

Salt Lake City Turns Gold
Angel Moroni isn’t the only thing gold in this city; at least this week. While the International Olympic Committee is in town, several downtown buildings are leaving the lights on at night to emit a golden hue. And during dark sky month even. [KSL]

Jordan River Running High
Water levels along the Jordan River have reached their highest point since 2011, largely due to our record-breaking snowpack from last year. This affects communities like Riverton and South Jordan, where the erosion endangers the trail and nearby developments. The Jordan River Commission is working on stabilizing shores and creating space for water to flow that will also support natural growth and wildlife. [KUER]

Spring Restaurants
Two local chefs have been named finalists for a prestigious James Beard Award, a bellwether for our food scene. Today we present: The five restaurants you need to try this spring, from fine dining to modest-on-the-outside-bangin’-on-the-inside. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Salt Lake Chatter

This week, Hey Salt Lake readers are speaking to summer camps, murals, and favorite spots.
🎨 On Favorite Murals
“This is my favorite mural [pictured above], probably because I see it most days as I commute by train! It’s at the Central Pointe Trax station. Also, thank you for mentioning the Hive Pass early in the year. I commute by FrontRunner to Lehi and the Hive Pass has saved me a lot of money the past few months.” — Ashley L.
💔 On Nostalgic Restaurants
“Although they have since sadly closed: Wagon Master and Joanna’s Kitchen.” — Colleen K.
💅 On Where To Go on Midvale’s Main Street
“I loved today's newsletter covering Midvale. I currently live here and am proud of the area! I would also love to recommend The Ruhe’ Collective on Main Street. They're an incredible group of women artists who offer nails, tattoos, hair, brow laminations, lash extensions, and more! The founder, Ausha, is an award-winning permanent makeup artist.” — Amy B.
