What's CITY Talking About?

Pleasant Grove’s Theme Park Permanently Closed

Evermore Park, a fantasy-themed amusement park in Pleasant Grove, has permanently closed. Despite efforts by park founder Ken Bretschneider and his team, the business struggled to sustain its operations. In the meantime, the community awaits news of what will fill the 12.7-acre void left by the magical world of Evermore Park. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Earthquake or Detonation?

Hill Air Force Base will conduct large detonations (about twice a week) at the Utah Test and Training Range in the West Desert through September. Residents along the Wasatch Front may experience some slight vibrations. The detonations are to dispose of 10,000 pounds of old Department of Defense rocket motors. [FOX 13]

Cracks in the Dam

A portion of the Brian Head-Panguitch Lake Scenic Byway in southwestern Utah has been closed, and access to Panguitch Lake is restricted, due to cracks in Panguitch Lake Dam. Although it didn’t prompt an immediate evacuation, authorities are taking precautions by closing State Route 143 below the dam. Currently, the highway above the lake remains open.
