☔️ Your guide to Salt Lake in April
April 1, 2024
Good morning! We’re not fooling around today. We’ve got a roundup of some of the best things to do in the month of April. TLDR; get outside.

What's CITY Talking About?
Women in the Church
A Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leader is speaking out after her March 17 speech on women and the priesthood sparked some heated debate on Instagram. J. Anette Dennis, first counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency, said that she and Church leadership are “listening and learning” to concerns. But the distinction that her and “leadership” are separate seemed to fuel the criticism that women have no authority in the religious organization. [Salt Lake Tribune]
Court Backs SLC
A judge ruled in favor of Salt Lake City, dismissing a lawsuit filed by residents and business owners who accused the city of causing “public nuisances” by not enforcing anti-camping ordinances against unsheltered people. The judge stated that the plaintiffs failed to prove that the city owed them a special duty beyond the general public. The plaintiffs plan to appeal the decision. [Utah News Dispatch]
Turning Wastewater into Drinking Water
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, Utah is the second in the nation for highest water usage per person. Now, South Jordan is testing a new water purification facility to turn wastewater into drinking water. The process involves ozone treatment, UV treatment, and ultrafiltration. The pilot program will go on for at least five more years before it’s upscaled. [FOX 13]
