Trans Day of Visibility

Sunday, March 31 is International Transgender Day of Visibility. Local nonprofit Project Rainbow suggests showing your support for our transgender community through chalk art and filling your sidewalks with trans-affirming messages this weekend. [Project Rainbow Utah on Instagram]

Ammon Bundy on the Run?

Ammon Bundy, an anti-government activist and first cousin of Utah’s 2nd Congressional District Rep. Celeste Maloy, is allegedly hiding out in southern Utah. He has an arrest warrant in Idaho and a $50 million legal verdict. Despite the arrest warrant, Bundy said he’s not hiding out but “providing for his family,” hoping that Utah will better “protect [his] free speech.” [Salt Lake Tribune]

Illegal Dumping

Salt Lake City officials are considering a two-year closure of 7200 W. from I-80 to California Ave. in order to curb illegal dumping. Over 250 tons of “hazardous” waste has been dumped in the area, costing the city $65,000 in cleanups. The City Council will vote on a two-year closure by next month. [Deseret News]
