State Budget to Increase by $1.1B

Utah legislative leaders approved over $1.1 billion in state budget additions. This includes a $167 million income tax cut, $20,000 bonuses for some teachers, and $18 million for the Utah Homes Investment Program (which encourages homebuilders to add more affordable housing through a low-interest loan incentive). The legislature did not fund the Governor’s full $323 million request for statewide housing and homelessness funding. [Deseret News]
