What's CITY Talking About?

The Power District

The Larry H. Miller Company unveiled its $3.5 billion plan for the new Power District in the Fairpark neighborhood. The 100-acre, multi-use development will have green spaces, trails, restaurants, residential options, and potentially a Major League ballpark. Construction is set to start by the end of the year with the new Rocky Mountain Power headquarters. [Utah News Dispatch]

Getting Kevin Bacon to Payson

It’s the 40th anniversary of the movie “Footloose,” and many of the scenes were shot in Payson. Now, Payson High School is trying to get actor Kevin Bacon to come celebrate. The school is being torn down, so this may be the only chance they have to get Bacon to visit his old haunting grounds. [ABC 4]

Lawmakers Censure Cline

The Utah Legislature has officially condemned Utah State School Board member Natalie Cline for bullying a high school athlete on social media last week. Rep. Robert Spendlove, R-Sandy, sponsored the resolution censuring Cline and said she “violated the public trust” and “undermined the mission” of the school board with her actions. Some democrats expressed a desire for stronger action, as the move to censure falls short of the Legislature’s impeachment powers. Spendlove said moving forward with impeachment “would give [Cline] and people like her the attention they seek.” [City Cast Salt Lake].
