February 9, 2024

Good morning! We’ve got the ultimate guide to Valentine's Day in Salt Lake, whether you want to celebrate early or on the day.

What's CITY Talking About?

Utah School Board

A Utah high school student faced threats and had to receive police protection after a school board member, Natalie Cline, wrongly suggested she was transgender. Cline posted on Facebook, alluding that one player on a girls basketball team might not be female and shouldn’t be allowed to play. People in the comments quickly began doxxing and targeting the player. This isn’t the first time Cline has been in hot water. She was reprimanded in 2021, marking the first time a state school board member was disciplined, when she posted a message criticizing LGBTQ+ students. [Salt Lake Tribune]
