What's CITY Talking About?
Elementary Valentine
Don’t mind me, I’m sobbing: Students at South Kearns Elementary created 443 Valentine’s Day cards for The Ridge Senior Living Community. Every month, the students learn lessons from a social worker, and February’s theme was kindness. The handmade cards will be delivered to residents next week. [FOX 13]
Glendale Pool
The site of Raging Waters in Glendale will soon again be an outdoor pool as part of the new Glendale Regional Park. Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall announced at her State of the City address on Tuesday that the park’s first phase will be complete in the coming year and phase two will start the pool construction. This is the city’s first new regional park in 65 years. [Salt Lake Tribune]
No-Tipping Policy
Three Pines Coffee in downtown Salt Lake City has eliminated tipping and raised wages to $18/hr (from $8/hr). To counterbalance the higher wages, the coffee shop owners increased the price of menu items slightly, by about a dollar. [KUTV]
