Safety tips for Utah’s avalanche season

January 9, 2024

Hey, Salt Lake! In today’s newsletter, we’re sharing avalanche safety tips for when you hit the slopes.

What's CITY Talking About?

Utah State Senate

Acclaimed activist and professional ski mountaineer Caroline Gleich is running as a Democrat for Sen. Mitt Romney’s open seat in the United States Senate. The last Democrat to occupy the seat from our deeply red state was Frank Moss, who was elected in 1958. [Salt Lake Tribune]

We’re Number 15

In a study by WalletHub that ranked the best states for raising a family, Utah didn’t quite manage to break the top 10. Last year, the Beehive State was ranked number 15 where we stayed in the newly-updated rankings. They measured things like median household income, entertainment options, unemployment rates, and housing affordability. Do you think Utah’s a good place to raise kids? [KUTV]

ACA Open Enrollment

Friendly reminder, if you need it: Open enrollment for health insurance under the Affordable Care ends on Jan. 16. Need help figuring it out? Take Care Utah can support you through the process. [healthcare.gov]

New Candidates
