SLC has the worst air quality in America
December 19, 2023
Hey, Salt Lake! How are you doing? It’s a busy time of the year, so I wanted to check in. Tell me, what are you doing to keep sane during the holidays? I make tea almost every night before bed, and it feels like a treat.
What's CITY Talking About?
Number One in Bad Air
As of Monday, Salt Lake City ranked number one for the worst air quality in the United States. We also ranked 26th worst air quality in the world. The only other U.S. city that comes close on the global list is Seattle at number 56. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Ruby Franke Pleads Guilty
Ruby Franke, a former YouTuber based in Utah, has pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse. In agreement with her plea deal, Franke will serve a prison sentence for each count and testify against her ex-business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt. A few months ago, Franke and Hildebrandt were arrested, after one of Franke’s children escaped Hildebrandt’s home and asked a neighbor for food and water. [FOX 13]

The pilot project, which we’ve covered on City Cast Salt Lake, will support 50 unsheltered people through April 30. Then, a more permanent development is anticipated to launch in 2024.
