What's CITY Talking About?

Sen. Cullimore Leaves His Father’s Firm

Sen. Kirk Cullimore, R-Sandy, has left his father’s firm, which files almost half of Utah’s tenant eviction cases. The junior Cullimore has been known to push pro-landlord legislation (like expediting evictions during the pandemic), but has decided to venture out on his own with KCJR Legal. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Sundance Film Program

ICYMI, the Sundance Film Festival has released the film lineup for 2024, and general public tickets go on sale Jan. 11. What are you looking forward to seeing? I know there are a lot of Kristen Stewart haters out there, but “Love Me” with Steven Yeun is high up on my list. [Sundance]

Free Glasses for SLC Students

Salt Lake City School District opened a new vision clinic out of Parkview Elementary for students and their families. Those who qualify can get a free exam and glasses, but they also take some insurance. [Salt Lake Tribune]

When Will Lawmakers Address Air Quality on SLC’s West Side?

Salt Lakers just know: The worst air is on the west side of the valley. But our chewy air quality has consequences beyond the ick we get looking at our murky horizon. Salt Lake Tribune west side reporter Alixel Cabrera and KUER politics reporter Saige Miller join host Ali Vallarta to break down the impacts to residents and possible solutions by local and state leaders.

Take care.
