U of U Student Group Criminally Charged
Seven members of MECHA, a University of Utah student group led by students of color, have been charged with Class B misdemeanors and infractions after protesting a Young Americans for Freedom event on campus. MECHA called the advertising for the event transphobic and hate speech, after YAF put up posters that said, “The transgender movement harms women.” Last month, the university pulled MECHA’s sponsorship after this protest and a rally the group held in support of Palestine. Kilby Block Party Lineup
Next year, Kilby Court will be celebrating 25 years of rocking out to local music in a garage. They just released their lineup for Kilby Block Party, which returns to the Utah State Fairpark May 10-12. Headliners include the usual sad boy bands, like Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service. Plus, the lineup features LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, and the Wu-Tang Clan. You could argue they’re all sad boy bands, really. [Instagram]
