What's CITY Talking About?
Layton Lightsabers
A team of self-proclaimed “nerds” at T2 Engineering in Layton design and craft lightsabers. The T2E-Sabers are the first of their kind to implement WiFi technology, which allows users to personalize colors and sound effects. They’re working on making the software video game compatible. Major Crash in Tooele
Dashcam footage shows the moment a semi-truck crashed into multiple vehicles in Tooele last Friday afternoon. Brake failure prevented the truck from stopping. After plowing through intersections on Main Street (hitting cars along the way) it ended up crashing into a car dealership causing a building fire. There were 11 reported injuries with one person in critical condition. [ABC 4]

We sat down with Michael Valentine, Rocky Anderson, and current Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall and asked questions specific to their record and their policy ideas around homelessness. First up is Michael Valentine. Stick around to the end for analysis from City Cast Salt Lake host Ali Vallarta and lead producer Emily Means. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Today on City Cast
Kind of the core idea of what I'm trying to do here is just change the nature of how we look at homelessness in general as something like this can end in our lifetime ... We can house everybody in the city and create a city for kindness and compassion, empathy, where it just doesn't exist anymore here.
Analysis: Mayoral Candidate Michael Valentine on Homelessness
The topic of homelessness has dominated the Salt Lake City mayoral race, and earlier this year, City Cast Salt Lake was quick to get candidates on the record about the issue. With Election Day about two weeks out, host Ali Vallarta and lead producer Emily Means are revisiting and analyzing our conversations with each of the candidates, starting with Michael Valentine.
Talk soon.
