What's CITY Talking About?
Hospitals & Abortion Care
A study by the University of Utah found that many hospitals lack clear protocols around abortion care. Researchers contacted 50 Utah hospitals to ask about the procedure and received a mix of responses. Some claimed abortion is illegal while others stated they didn’t provide the service. Utah allows abortions up to 18 weeks. A law passed this year effectively bans abortion clinics, restricting the procedure to facilities offering hospital-level care. However, it’s currently on hold due to a lawsuit by Planned Parenthood. [Salt Lake Tribune]
