What's CITY Talking About?
Nostalgic Movies
An American Fork couple bought a two-screen movie theater that will play classic movies. In the age of streaming, Maven Cinemas hopes to bring back the nostalgic movie-going experience. The lobby has a chalkboard where customers can request films they want to see on the big screen. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Salt Lake Chatter
I’ll say it once, I’ll say it a million times, your responses always brighten up my day. Here’s what you had to say on some recent Hey Salt Lake topics.
🥑 On Avenues’ Avocado Toast
“You left Publik Coffee off your list. Honestly the best avocado toast in town and believe me I’ve tried them all. Fantastic pastries, panini’s and their menu at Publik Kitchen includes burgers. They also serve alcohol, can’t beat the price of their mimosas ($6.00). And of course, the best coffee in Utah. Four locations to choose from and locally owned!” — Alison L.
👀 On Spotting a Utahn
According to Jody M:
- Obsessed with J Dawgs.
- The way ward is pronounced rhymes with guard.
- A drink in the morning isn’t coffee but soda, usually Diet Coke.
- Multi-level marketing parties.
- Obsessed with Chick-Fil-A.
- Smiles at strangers.
🎃 On SLC Halloween
“Hey, was finally listening to “Why Salt Lake Goes Hard for Halloween” and the part about all the big trick or treating crowds being in the suburbs made me cringe and have to reach out about my SLC pride. If you want to see how SLC does trick or treating come to Windsor St. between 900 S. and 1300 S., it'll blow your mind!” — Laura S.
Editor’s note: We’ll catch you next year, Windsor Street!
