What's CITY Talking About?
New SLC Bar
A new watering hole is coming to 1100 E. between Sugar House and 9th and 9th — assuming, of course, it can meet regulations and score a permit. In order for a bar to meet state code, they have to be at least 600 feet from any school, parks, or churches. The sweet spot of 1530 S. and 1100 E. does meet that requirement, and developers plan to make a bar that has a tap room, wine bar, and basement arcade. They’ll present to the Salt Lake City Planning Commission on Nov. 29. [Building Salt Lake]

What’s Your Train Delay Story?
If you live or commute around Salt Lake City’s westside, you’re sure to have faced delays from long train crossings. The Salt Lake City Council wants to hear from you. Submit your train delay stories so the city has a better idea of how trains disrupt your day-to-day and can find long-term solutions. In the meantime, they plan to pilot a program that will add signage to train crossings to keep commuters informed of delays. [Salt Lake City]

Happy Anniversary, Utah Jazz
Purple is back, the Delta Center is back, and we lost our first home game. It’s the 50th anniversary of the Utah Jazz, and though it often brings heartache to our doorstep, we love this team. But does the Jazz have a future in downtown Salt Lake City, or will they go the way of the Salt Lake Bees and jump cities? [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Where Is It?

So many of you correctly guessed the location of the Hoodah sculpture on about 700 S. and 400 W. It was made by woodworker Garth Franklin for the Granary neighborhood’s Hoodah Fest.

Next up is a “Who Is It?” and “Where Is It?” rolled into one. Photo taken by Bryant Heath of SLsees. Hint: The answer is hidden in plain sight 🔎

Could the Jazz Leave Downtown SLC?
Besides the Utah Jazz’s defeat in their first home game of the season, things seem to be looking up for Jazz fans. The team is wearing purple, they’re playing at the Delta Center again — good signs all around. Except for a rumor that has us on edge: Could the Jazz someday leave Salt Lake City for the ‘burbs? Host Ali Vallarta has been looking for answers and shares her speculations and findings with lead producer Emily Means.
