Salt Lake goes hard for Halloween. Why?
October 26, 2023
Hey, Salt Lake! I love to romanticize the holiday seasons, so I have two costumes planned for Halloweekend — Marcel the Shell and Maya Ishii-Peters from “Pen15.” I’ve been practicing Marcel’s accent and this specific scene of Maya scatting because, frankly, I have a problem.
Are you dressing up? Tell me what you’re wearing!

What's CITY Talking About?
Romance Scam
A 39-year-old Provo woman, Nelly Idowu, was found guilty of scamming victims (mostly single women over 65-years-old) out of $6 million. From 2017 to 2019 she made fake online dating profiles to connect with people before asking them for money for financial needs, investment opportunities, or helping family members. [FOX 13]

Oscar Mayer Wienermobile
Well, hot dog! The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is making its way back to Salt Lake. They’ll be raising funds for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. Get your hands on a dog and their coveted merch (I’m coming for you, Wiener Whistle). Core memory unlocked: Oscar Mayer jingles sure were catchy. [ABC 4]

Why Do Utahns Love Halloween?
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when our famously mild-mannered and street-swept suburbs absolutely rock out for Halloween. Daybreak is Barbieland, Draper lawns are littered with bones, and the 12-foot-tall Home Depot skeleton is now gracing the roof of the Why Kiki building. Utahns love the fright, but where does this obsession come from? [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
