Hundreds of Qualtrics Layoffs

Another Utah tech company has announced major layoffs. Qualtrics, which has a headquarters in Provo and was co-founded by Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith, is cutting 780 positions. The culprit? Rapid hiring. Qualtrics CEO Zig Serafin said, “Rapid hiring was essential to enable our growth up to this point, but it also created complexity that does not support continued growth at our scale.” Employees affected will receive a minimum of 10 weeks severance. The Library Rooftop Is Getting Cooler

A $7.9 million rooftop renovation project at the Salt Lake City Library will not only fix leaks, but will provide a cool space to hangout. Along with existing panoramic views, it will have canvas sails, umbrellas, and plenty of trees to create shade. It will also feature a children’s play area, tiered seating, and honeybees. But none of our individual restaurants have yet to receive a single star! So what gives? And what Salt Lake restaurants should be getting the recognition. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Why Utah Restaurants Aren’t Getting Michelin Stars

In 2018, the state of Utah was awarded three Michelin stars. But the prestigious travel award is often associated with culinary excellence, and, on that front, Utah restaurants have not been awarded a single star! Host Ali Vallarta asks food writer and Gastronomic SLC founder Stuart Melling why we haven’t received the blessing, and what area restaurants should be on Michelin's short list.

What Utah restaurant would you award a Michelin star?
