Is the Hoberman Arch our Roman Empire?
October 2, 2023
Good morning! Today we’re talking about the Hoberman Arch. Love it or hate it, it’s here to stay. What do you think about it?

What's CITY Talking About?
Cloud Seeding
Have you heard of cloud seeding? It’s the process of releasing silver iodide in the air during a storm to help increase the amount of rain. Utah is looking to invest more in cloud seeding to help the Great Salt Lake. This year, the Legislature budgeted $12 million in cloud seeding technology, while in past years they’ve only set aside $200,000. [FOX 13]

New In-N-Out in South Salt Lake
Is South Salt Lake built to handle another fast-food drive-thru? An In-N-Out Burger will open on the corner of 2100 S. and Main Street, in an area which will be the city’s new downtown neighborhood. South Salt Lake leaders seem to want to make this area between Main Street and State Street a car-centric hub. The block already has a Raising Canes, Jack in the Box, and (coming soon) Chipotle drive-thru. [Building Salt Lake]

Drain Lake Powell?
Do you have a Lake Powell memory? The red rock reservoir on the Arizona border is a favorite destination for Salt Lakers. And duh, it’s gorgeous, but here’s the problem. The mighty Colorado River is in crisis, and it’s knocking at the federal government’s door with a very uncomfortable question: Do we need to drain Lake Powell? [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

The Big Idea to Drain Lake Powell
Lake Powell is a favorite summer destination for Salt Lakers, but the Colorado River water crisis is begging the question: Do we need to drain Lake Powell and decommission Glen Canyon Dam? Luke Runyon, co-director of The Water Desk at the University of Colorado, joins host Ali Vallarta to explain the proposal and make the case for why Salt Lakers should be invested in the fate of the Colorado River.
Toodles.
