Building Evacuated, Parts of Downtown Closed
The U.S. Bank Tower building was fully evacuated and parts of downtown Salt Lake City were blocked off after a suspicious package was found in an alley Monday morning. The Hazardous Device Unit and bomb squad were called to the scene for the investigation. Police later determined the object posed no threat. [FOX 13]
Bomb Scare at The King’s English Bookshop
A bomb threat forced the cancellation of an all-ages drag storytime event at The King’s English Bookshop. The store and the surrounding area were closed off for the day but later received an all-clear. Local drag queen Tara Lipsyncki has been hosting the event, which raises money for the nonprofit Brain Food Books, at The King’s English since June. [Salt Lake Tribune]
