Rate of Rent Increases

The State of Utah’s Housing Market report by the Gardner Policy Institute shows a huge jump in average rent in four Wasatch Front counties. In the last two years, rent increased by over 25% in these areas. In Salt Lake County, the average rental rate is $1,570. The report also found homeownership is increasingly out of reach for renters.[X]

Rail Safety

The Rise, Fall, and Rise Again of the Hoberman Arch

Salt Lake City recently resurrected a long-forgotten relic of the 2002 Winter Olympics: the Hoberman Arch. The 30,000-pound art installation has a new home near Salt Lake City International Airport — but it’s lived rent-free in host Ali Vallarta’s mind for years.
