Mitt’s Retiring
U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney says he won’t seek re-election when his first term as Utah’s junior senator ends in 2025 next year. Romney announced his decision in a video on X Wednesday, saying it’s time for “a new generation of leaders” to step up and “shape the world they will be living in.” Senate hopefuls are already gearing up for the 2024 race, including Utah House Speaker Brad Wilson and Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs. But with the incumbent out of the picture, it’s anyone’s game. [X]
Salmon Season
It’s the most wonderful time of the year — salmon season! Every September and October in Utah, the kokanee salmon, which are usually silver, turn a vibrant, bright red, as they travel upstream to spawn. We’re talking hundreds of them. If you’re not able to make it to one of the bodies of water, catch the live cam (roll that beautiful salmon footage). [Utah DNR]
