🦃 Have you seen the wild, wild turkeys of Fairpark?

September 13, 2023

Good morning! This time of year feels primed for picking up a new hobby. I want to get into knitting and sewing this year. Have you started a new skill you’re loving?

What's CITY Talking About?

Generational Jam

This wholesome story got me crying in the club. In 1974, Pam Carson entered her raspberry jam in the Utah State Fair and won the first-place blue ribbon. She’s been competing every year since. The retired middle school teacher, who learned from her grandmother, has passed the love of canning down to her granddaughters. And one granddaughter entered her own pickles into this year’s State Fair. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Library of Things

Looking for a new hobby this winter? Make your own pasta! You can now check out pasta makers at Salt Lake County’s Library of Things. Talk to a librarian at your local branch to reserve or call their customer service. [X]

Utah Medicaid

Medicaid is making headlines in Utah because the state is reviewing every member’s eligibility, which hasn’t happened since the start of the pandemic. You won’t believe how many Utahns are losing coverage each month. On the City Cast Salt Lake podcast, lead producer Emily Means talks with Medicaid consumer advocate Stephanie Burdick about what’s going on with our Medicaid program. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
