What does it take to make it in Salt Lake?
September 11, 2023
Good morning! I love our skyline, but are there any buildings in Salt Lake City that give you the ick? In your humble opinion, what are the ugliest buildings in Salt Lake?

What's CITY Talking About?
Davis School District Updates Book Policy
Remember the Bible debacle at Davis School District? Well, now the district has updated the process to challenge books. The review committee will not have to read the whole book but will review the request completely. If they deem that it violates the state code of a “description or depiction of illicit sex or sexual immorality,” then it can be removed. The new policy also removed the limit on times that parents, students, and district employees could challenge a book, but added a limit on the number of appeals (two a year). [KUER]
The Areas With the Most Affordable Housing
According to data by the Salt Lake Board of Realtors, the area with the most affordable housing (in Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Weber, and Tooele Counties) is Glendale, followed by South Ogden, Roy, Kearns, and West Valley. Although affordable may not be the best word. The median single-family homes in those areas range from $381,000-$420,000. [Deseret News]

Where Is It?

Shoutout to all of those who guessed the location of these rainbow stairs. They’re at the Salt Lake City Library in the kid’s section. One Hey Salt Lake reader said, “Easy to spot, thanks to the hours my one-year-old has spent running back and forth beneath it yelling, ‘Bow-bow!’”

This week’s photo is a bit of a challenge, especially for the indoor enthusiasts (aka me). What trail was this taken on? Bonus points if you can name the lake. Hint: It’s near Park City.
