What's CITY Talking About?

Hundreds of Bats at Highland High

The bats got the back-to-school message! Hundreds were discovered at Highland High School, but only two people reportedly came in contact with them. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are working to safely remove the bats. P.S. Here’s what to do if you’ve got bats at home. [KSL]

License Plate Waitlist

Turns out, Utah’s black and white license plate is so popular there’s now a six-to-eight week waitlist for it. While it’s been around for years, it was only available to vintage vehicles until new legislation this year made it a specialty plate that benefits the Utah State Historical Society. [FOX 13]

Housing in Park City

Sometimes it feels like we’re alone in this housing crisis. But our neighboring cities are dealing with the exact same thing. Park City, for one, has some ambitious projects in the works. With ski season quickly approaching, City Cast Salt Lake host Ali Vallarta checks in on the state of housing there. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Where Is It?

Shoutout to Jennifer S. for correctly guessing the location of our last “Where Is It?” It’s the koi pond at Ashton Gardens in Thanksgiving Point.

Housing, Ski Beaches, and Other Ways Park City is Changing

The affordable housing crisis isn’t unique to Salt Lake City. In Park City, there are more jobs than residents, which means lots of people commute into town each day. So how will the city government get workers housed and out of traffic? KPCW reporter Parker Malatesta joins host Ali Vallarta to break down what housing projects are in the pipeline as well as other developments that could majorly change the trajectory of the ski town.

Till next time.
