Utah’s Tallest Building

Our Salt Lake City skyline is changing. The Astra Tower, a luxury residential development currently under construction in downtown SLC, is slated to be the tallest building in Utah. Once completed, it will be a 40-story structure, 449 feet tall. [Building Salt Lake]

Security Guards & Weapon Detectors in SLC High Schools

The Salt Lake City School Board voted to approve $1.1 million to hire a staff of security guards that will operate detectors at four SLC high schools. Which is on top of the $1.44 million board members approved in January to lease the weapon detectors. One board member who voted against the plan fears the added security measures will have a negative impact on students of color through profiling and racial bias. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Next Steps For the Cottonwood Gondola

The Utah Department of Transportation has officially greenlit the controversial proposal to build a 22-tower, 8-mile gondola up Little Cottonwood Canyon.
