This Utah snail is no bigger than a quinoa grain

What's CITY Talking About?

Downtown SLC Is Nearly 30% Parking

Does this surprise you or not? According to research by the Parking Reform Network, nearly 1 out of every 3 acres in downtown Salt Lake City is covered in parking. And it’s likely that number was underestimated since it doesn’t include the gravel parking lot by Broadway. [Building Salt Lake]

Disappearing Lanes

You know how it goes — when it rains, the roads in Salt Lake City do a disappearing act. Gov. Spencer Cox announced Utah’s largest reflective lane striping project to date. The Utah Department of Transportation has started updating I-15 and other Wasatch Front freeways. The process removes the old tape and grinds the new tape into the pavement, so it won’t be as easily removed by snow plows. [Twitter]

Today on City Cast

It's really interesting to have people who were so gung-ho a year ago signing on to this national organization that is hell-bent on the absolute opposite of what they were trying to do a year ago.

Workers at Utah’s First Unionized Starbucks Want Out. Why?

Starbucks employees in Cottonwood Heights made headlines when they became the first in Utah to formally unionize with Starbucks Workers United. But now, just one year later, some of those same employees are working with the National Right to Work Foundation to decertify their union. Host Ali Vallarta asks KUER politics reporter Sean Higgins what the hell happened to turn the tide.
