Your picks for best ice cream

July 28, 2023

Hey, Salt Lake! I’m working on a story about drastic style evolutions after a faith transition. In other words, after leaving a religion, did your style go from shabby chic to punk rock? If that sounds like you or someone you know, I would love to chat! Send me an email.

What's CITY Talking About?

SLC Cool Zones

Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City officials have created “cool zones” to escape the heat in senior centers, recreational facilities, and libraries. While many are open to all ages, the senior centers are specifically for Utahns 60 or older. Check out the map for locations. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Spider Fest

Antelope Island State Park has a species that takes over in the spring and summer, and it’s not bison — it’s spiders. Most commonly, western spotted orb weaver spiders head to the shoreline to munch on brine flies. This weekend, you can attend Spider Fest at Antelope Island to learn about common myths and make eight-legged crafts. [KUER]

Glendale Regional Park

ICYMI, Glendale Regional Park is a $27 million dollar project that will replace the old Raging Waters. It will have community gathering spaces, splash pads, and places to walk and wheel around. Now, the city is asking Salt Lake westsiders for input on the new pickleball courts. Should they build brand new courts (which will take longer) or repurpose the existing tennis courts?
